Each material included in the 5x4 Hayes Lane Project has been carefully considered, taking into account sustainability and waste minimisation.

Part of the consideration process is to asses the embodied energy of each of the proposed products and materials, which is the total amount of energy expended in the harvesting, transportation and consumption of any given product.

Build Process

The 5x4 Hayes Lane Project aims to combine different materials and processes to create the smallest eco footprint, whilst providing the highest performance.

We have considered the total environmental impact of the building ecologically, from extraction, processing and manufacturing, as well as transportation, operational lifespan and destruction.
